If you have kids, chances are that at some point you had or have a playard.
You use it for naps, staying at a relatives or traveling. We have used ours for two kids now. Our daughter slept like a dream in it, but when our wee lad reached the 25lb mark, he decided that it was too uncomfortable to sleep in. The lightly foam covered hardboard was not going to fly for Captain Comfortable any longer.
This past week we went away on a family holiday and little man had to sleep in the playard. I had corresponded with some Mom friends a few months back about places that had reasonably priced foam for a project that I am working on. One of them suggested The Foam Shop, as they had purchased a piece of foam for their playard.
Ding, ding, ding!
The Foam Shop
What a fabulous idea! I had never considered get a piece of foam for our playard to make our son’s sleep more enjoyable for him and us. I measured the “mat” and took the dimensions to the nearest The Foam Shop and the gal there said that they have had several requests for foam mats for playards.
It only took 10 minutes for the mat to be cut to size and it cost me under $40.
We used it this past week on our trip and we all slept like kings!
Thank you Mommy Friend for the suggestion, and thank you The Foam Shop for the new playard mat.
Well, here I am, Week 9.
I’m sad to say that the fat lady has sung for me:(
I have realized that my family’s schedule conflicts too much for me to continue with my plan for 30 Minute Hit. With hubby away for work so much and Little Dude not wanting to hang out by himself in the “kiddie corral”, I have not made it into the gym for 2 weeks and now we’re on holidays for another week.
I will honestly say that I completely enjoyed working out with the team of trainers at 30 Minute Hit New Westminster and I highly recommend the company for any ladies who are looking for an intense yet fulfilling workout. It’s only 30 minutes, but you feel like you’ve been there for longer.
If you’d like to try the FREE trial session, just fill out the online form and they will get in touch with you to set up a time.
Again, I am so sad to have to give this up, but maybe when our schedules align better, I’ll be able to get back in a kick Bob’s butt!
If you have small kids, chances are you need a place to take them so that they can burn off the energy that they’ve drained from you and hopefully tire themselves out just in time for nap time or bed time. The experts say that kids need at least 60 minutes of exercise or active play every day.
There are several options available: organized activities or classes, the play area at the mall, open gym time at the local recreation centre, an indoor play centre, the playground (on nicer days) or maybe you have an awesome play room that the kids can go to town in and have some friends over to play with.
Trampoline, a favourite of ours.
At the playground.
We love to check out new places to go get our ya ya’s out. The kids can burn off energy in a safe environment and also make some new friends to play with.
And maybe, just maybe…Mom will start chatting with a fellow Mom, and a friendship will brew over our half cold coffees.
Where do you and the kids like to frequent?
When you think of a Family Car, what image pops in to your head? Maybe the Griswolds from National Lampoons Vacation? Maybe a minivan? I swore that when I started a family, I would NEVER have a minivan! I would have a super awesome SUV! And we did. To start.
It was a pretty sweet ride! 4 doors, so getting the baby in and out was easier than the 2 door Jeep that we previously owned. 4×4, so it was safer to be driving around with our wet Westcoast weather. Loads of space in the back cargo hold. Manual transmission, so we felt that we had better control. And it was a nice looking vehicle. The top could come off in the Summer when the weather was nice. Did the top EVER come off? Nope! The new Mommy in me felt that baby would get too much sun and it would be too windy for her. We kept it for 3 years, then… Munchkin #2 came along and we needed more room. Ugh. OK, let’s go have a look. We ended up settling on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan.
Dodge Grand Caravan
Seats 7. Loads of storage room. 2 sliding side doors. Good on gas consumption. Pretty? No. Fun to drive? Na uh. But did I mention that it has loads of room? Hopefully once we’re out of the “baby” stage and we don’t need to drag a stroller around and have to tote along the playard for baby to sleep in when we travel, we can get back into an SUV. My girlfriend is super excited about the Tesla Model X, and has my interest piqued as well.
Tesla Model X
This beauty is an electric car. Seats 7. Has loads of storage (front & rear). Has gull-wings, so close-parkers at the mall won’t have any effect on you. And will cost around $35,000. Or we could wait longer and score one of these.
If any of the car manufacturers out there have some “family” vehicles that they’d like us to test-drive, please don’t hesitate to contact us. No,really…don’t hesitate! What is your family vehicle? What do you like or dislike about it?
30 Minute Hit New Westminster
Blargh! Where did the last week go?
Between field trips, Halloween, Daddy Travel, a seriously ill family member and complete energy drainage from caring for 2 littles all day, I never made it in to the gym:(
I hate myself. I feel like I’m letting people down, including myself.
My mind has been racing. I’ve been juggling too many thoughts and I’m exhausted.
Now the Little Dude and I both have colds.
I still want to go to 30 Minute Hit. It’s a great workout, it’s nearby and it’s a comfortable environment.
This is my own failure, and I have to smarten up and make a better commitment otherwise I won’t see the results that I want.
Here’s hoping for a better week. I want to succeed!
Strong. Healthy. Beautiful.
