Getting fit with kids in tow.

Now that I’m done having kids, I seriously want to get into shape.

I'm not happy with this.

I’m not happy with this.

I am a full time Stay-At-Home-Mom. My kids go where I go, so I need to include one, if not both of my kids into my workout schedule.

Fortunately our eldest goes to preschool three times a week for a few hours, but that still leaves me with our 1 year old to hang out with. He’s started to drop the morning nap, so now I can take him with me for workouts.

Now I just need to find something that will allow me to workout while he’s with me.

I know the rec centre has child minding, so that is an option. There are also some studios that offer it as well. I tried a facility that has an area for the wee ones to hang out in by themselves, but Captain Clingy wanted nothing to do with that.

I’m thinking that I need to pick up a jogging stroller. I can take the wee man along with me, he doesn’t weigh too much yet and running is FREE. On the down side, I’ll have the weather to contend with. Now that Old Man Winter is approaching, we’ll have to deal with the cold, rain, ice and possibly snow. Could get treacherous. I wonder if there are indoor tracks to go to?

My new jogging partner.

I suppose I could also pick up a fitness DVD and do workouts at home, but our space is the size of a closet and I think that if I fire up the Jillian Michael’s Kickboxing DVD that’s been collecting dust on the shelf, I’ll either kick my son clear across the room or end up with my foot firmly planted in the TV. Maybe I’ll pick up these 10 Minute Solution DVD’s that I just came across. There’s bound to be something in there that’ll work for me.

30 Minutes, just for me. {Series} Week 9

Well, here I am, Week 9.

I’m sad to say that the fat lady has sung for me:(

I have realized that my family’s schedule conflicts too much for me to continue with my plan for 30 Minute Hit. With hubby away for work so much and Little Dude not wanting to hang out by himself in the “kiddie corral”, I have not made it into the gym for 2 weeks and now we’re on holidays for another week.

I will honestly say that I completely enjoyed working out with the team of trainers at 30 Minute Hit New Westminster and I highly recommend the company for any ladies who are looking for an intense yet fulfilling workout. It’s only 30 minutes, but you feel like you’ve been there for longer.

If you’d like to try the FREE trial session, just fill out the online form and they will get in touch with you to set up a time.

Again, I am so sad to have to give this up, but maybe when our schedules align better, I’ll be able to get back in a kick Bob’s butt!

30 Minutes, just for me. {Series} Week 7

30 Minute Hit New Westminster

30 Minute Hit New Westminster

This week was a pretty good week!

Even though it was a short week, my Birthday AND my Anniversary, I managed to get in twice. Both times, I was last to go through the circuit, which made me a pretty good target for getting my butt pushed by the trainer to work my hardest.

Some days just get away from me, where the kids aren’t co-operating, they won’t eat their dinner in a timely manner, which runs into bath time, which runs into bedtime, which runs into Mommy’s exercise time. Those days do suck, but if I can’t make it into the gym, I tend to get a run in.

Trying to stay committed to a schedule is a great way to keep my sanity. The kids will hopefully get used to this and as long as we’re having dinner earlier than later, I should be able to make it in for a workout.

Hubby will be traveling a lot over the next little while, so I think I need to try getting Little Dude to hang out in the “kiddie corral” again. This may mean, “hopping” into the Port Moody location, as the kiddie area’s proximity is a bit closer to the actual workout area so maybe he won’t feel like I’m abandoning him;) Did I mention that you can “hop” between the different locations?

30 Minute Hit New Westminster

30 Minute Hit New Westminster

Great start to the week, managed to get 2 workouts in in a row!

Hubby had to go away for work again for a few days, so that was it for the week.

But I did manage to get a run in at the end of the week, so that kept my motivation up.

30 Minute Hit has a new “gear down” section for the upcoming rainy season. Take your wet stuff off here ’cause if you step on the mats with your “outside shoes” Bob’s gonna kick your butt!!!

Take your outside shoes off!!

There is a bulletin board that’ll keep you motivated too. Stretching tips to keep you from hurting the next day, or as I find, day 1-1/2. Find them on Facebook for updates and motivation from the trainers. They have yummy, healthy recipes on Pinterest. And every month they have a “Member of the Month”.

If you have a wee ninja en route, you can still workout too! Just talk to one of the trainers and they’ll help you modify your workout so that you’re still doing a great job while staying safe and comfortable.

If you are too intimidated to go at it alone, grab your best girlfriend and do it together. You’ll motivate each other, maybe challenge each other, and if you’re bringing your babies along, you can trade off on the child minding so each of you can get a good workout in without worrying about how your little one is doing.

I was finally able to sit down with Brett and Stacey this weekend too to go over my game plan. Brett showed me some techniques to try out that will help my workout be the best that it can be. I think this will help my arms from falling off my body by the end of my workout.

30 Minute Hit

30 Minute Hit New Westminster

So here I am, just completed week 2 .

This week was a bad week for me:( Hubby was away for work and I was solo Mom for the beginning of the week. So, I didn’t make it in for a workout until Tuesday night. It was a great workout and I seriously got my sweat on! Bob was no match for me.

Then, two nights in a row of evening meetings, took away my workout nights. LAME!!

Come Friday night, my girlfriend and I head out of town for my very 1st EVER, weekend away from the kiddos! This was a much needed break for me as I have never ever had a night away from the kids since my daughter was born 4 years ago!

Needless to say, poor commitment by me this past week. But sometimes life throws a wrench in your best laid plans. I promise myself to do a better job this week and kick Bob’s butt more than once;)
